We continue to make changes - both big and small, so as to give you the best-possible tips and surfing experience at WellOiledPC. However, rather than list them below (you'll notice them anyway and send in your feedback as usual, we know!), we would like to discuss the BIG Windows question here: Vista or not?

We were reluctant to include Vista as a mainstream Operating System until now - not because we doubted Microsoft's latest OS, but because vendors were until now just beginning to ship Vista with their products and also, because we wanted to study it in detail. Today, Desktop and Notebook vendors are shipping Vista with their higher-end computers, with Windows XP being shipped with their entry-level products alone.

Today, if you are buying a Computer, it is likely that you will have to decide between XP and Vista. On the other hand, if you are upgrading your Desktop, you may like to understand whether you would miss anything by not upgrading to Vista as well.

The time to discuss Vista is now, with Microsoft announcing Service Pack 1 for Vista as well as substantial price cuts for all editions. As a result, Vista is likely to be purchased off the shelf increasingly.
